🧠 About the Artist and Painting:
Though often mistaken as purely sentimental, Whistler intended this portrait of his mother to be an abstract study in form and tone, not a tribute. It was rejected by the Royal Academy in London, and only gained real acclaim later in Paris. Whistler famously declared:

“Art should be independent of all claptrap — should stand alone.”

Originally titled "Arrangement in Grey and Black No. 1", this 1871 painting by James McNeill Whistler is one of the most famous works by an American-born artist. Often referred to colloquially as Whistler's Mother, the piece depicts the artist’s mother seated in profile, embodying dignity, stillness, and Victorian restraint.

🤳 The Modern Reimagination:

But what if Whistler's Mother were painted today?

This parody transforms the original masterpiece into a sharp, satirical snapshot of today’s culture — with the subject reclining in a gaming chair under a ring light, headset on, ready to stream playstation.
